Your Pet's stay with us
Once you have seen the surgeon and discussed the procedure being undertaken, your pet will be admitted to the ward. Here at CVR we have an amazing team of fully qualified, registered Veterinary Nurses. The nursing team always puts your pet's needs first. The patients are given one- to-one care; each patient has time spent with them to ensure that they feel as settled as possible whilst staying with us. Along with high quality prescription foods we also stock fresh chicken, ham, sausages, tuna and pilchards for the more discerning patients.
Once settled the nurses administer gentle pre-medications including pain relief under the direction of the surgeon to calm them in advance of their procedure. Our surgical nursing team work closely with the ward nurses to ensure that our patients have a smooth and calm transit to anaesthesia.
Whilst the procedure takes place your pet will be monitored closely by our trained team along with monitoring equipment including Pulse Oximetry, Capnography, ECG etc. During the procedure pain management is of high importance to enable a smooth comfortable recovery for your pet.
The surgical nurses will return your pet to recovery and give a complete handover to the Ward nurses. The ward nurses spend time monitoring and comforting your pet during this initial recovery period. After most procedures the patient will be sitting up after a while, having a look around to see what is happening. Our nurses will call you with daily updates on your pet's progress.
